Did anybody get a job in Zhengzhou via an agency?
Would you recommend your agency?
Have you got a horror story that others should know about?

The Good
I applied through experiencechina.org My contact was very supportive, helpful and was happy to chase down applications when I hadn't heard back in a while.

I was really surprised, on getting to China and starting work, o discover from colleagues that it's really uncommon to have to pay your agency to find you a job, as I did...
Some agencies will charge you a fee, or a percentage of your salary for 3 months, if they place you at a school that provides accommodation.
I don't think that's fair, given that they're charging the school a fee as well.
If you're being charged a fee, think seriously about whether you think it's fair, the agency is really earning it, or if you can get out of the contract, and make contact with schools directly.
It's worth contacting former teachers where you can; they'll often be helping their school find new staff, and you won't have to pay them a penny.
