Another question through email... Will the classes be monitored by a member of a school?

Occasionally, your classes will be observed. Often, this is by your Chinese counterparts who also teach English - they like to watch to pick up some Western teaching techniques. Sometimes, this is by the school administration. They observe, perhaps, 45 minutes of a two-hour class, ask the students how they're enjoying the class, pass on some oral feedback to you and leave.

Re the administrators (rather than the teachers) observing your classes... They file a report, which as far as I can tell has never affected anything ever and goes into a filing cabinet somewhere. I was observed four times this semester (luck of the draw) - it does not affect your pay, your contract or anything at all really. You're observed less frequently here than you ever would teaching back in the UK.

Observations were fine and the reports seem to just sit in a cupboard. I occasionally got feedback but often the observer couldn't speak a lot of English! I used to get a bit annoyed that I'd receive no warning before an observation, but it didn't matter too much.
